Ideally, students enter the room, gather what they need—choir folder, pencil, water, etc.—find their seats quietly, and begin the assigned bell work as soon as they sit down. Those first few minutes can establish an important rehearsal habit... students know how to get ready for choir without waiting for repeated directions.

The first week of choir should establish rehearsal routines without postponing the reason students signed up: singing. Use familiar music, repeated routines, and experience-before-label musicianship to build greater independence across the week.

A consistent choir warm-up doesn't require identical exercises every day. Use a five-part sequence—posture, breath, vocal relaxation, vowels, and diction—then adapt the exercises to your singers, repertoire, and rehearsal needs.
